What to put in a tote bag?
Things I carry with me as a female college athlete:
Do you ever feel like you don’t have enough hands to carry all of your things throughout the day? Do you know what to put in a tote bag?
Maybe you already use a bag to carry your things in, but tote bags are the way to go! Tote bags are at an all time high and trend right now and it’s time to join in! If you have one already in your closet, you need to add another one that supports female athletes and the athleisure style. Female sports are growing rapidly right now too. If you're an athlete, you might spend most days in athletic clothing, so let’s add some style with that by using the AthleTote.
As a college athlete, I’m constantly on the go. There’s always somewhere to be. Even as a high school athlete, I was constantly on the go too. Whether it be to 6am weights, to my classes that run throughout the day, or my 3pm practice time that runs until 6pm on the weekdays, there’s always multiple things that need to be with me from place to place. If it weren’t for the tote bag, I wouldn’t be able to carry those things around with me.

1. Practice clothes
One thing you can constantly find in my tote bag is an extra shirt or piece of practice gear. Sometimes even an extra pair of socks. Having them in one spot makes it easy to grab and go when I’m in a rush. During the weekdays, I almost always have to go straight from class to practice, and I don’t like wearing my practice clothes to class because they aren’t comfortable. This results in me needing to pack my practice clothes, and the AthleTote allows me to do it. I can also pack clothes to change into after practice. The design of the AthleTote makes it perfect for fitting all my essentials, and supports female sports while doing so. If you don’t know what to put in a tote bag, start with this!
2. Water Bottle
99% of the time I carry a water bottle in my tote bag. While I’m constantly on the go, juggling between classes and practice, it's important that I have a water bottle with me to stay hydrated. Research supports that hydration is important for athletes to perform at their very best, so I’m constantly trying to stay on top of it.
I also pack snacks like protein bars to keep my energy up between classes, practice, or games. Making sure my body is fueled throughout the day is easier when I use my tote bags, because I store the goods in the bag. The tote bag is perfect for carrying my water bottle and snacks!
3. Headphones
I don’t go a day, let alone a couple hours, without listening to music. Music helps me focus and get in the zone before practice or competition. Studies have been done to see if there is correlation to sports and listening to music to help narrow focus, and it supports it. Music might not be the answer for every athlete, but if it is for you, you might want your headphones with you at all times. Whether I’m listening to pump-up songs or songs that make me feel relaxed, my headphones are a must have item in my tote. The AthleTote has enough space to store both headphones and earbuds. Struggling to find what to put in your tote bag? Add headphones!
4. Notebook/ computer
As a student-athlete, balance is everything. An important piece of the balance involves school and my academics. School is my priority, and my sport is something that I get to do along with it.
I carry a notebook, or sometimes a couple notebooks to do school assignments and write down my practice times. I have a special notebook for my softball film too that has to be with me everyday at practice. I also carry my laptop because it is a necessity for each class, and I use it to watch practice or game film for my sport. If I don’t have my laptop with me, then I wouldn’t be able to do in class assignments or really any of my schoolwork. Also, there are times where I get out of class early and am able to get ahead of some school work before heading to practice, so it’s beneficial to be able to have my laptop with me. My AthleTote has enough space for me to store both notebooks and my laptop, and it’s not as big and bulky as a backpack is.
5. Essentials and Extras
I always keep some small items like hair ties, deodorant, lip balm, and gum in my tote bag. Who knows when you’re going to need something while being on the go, and if you’re like me, you might need a hair tie or some gum to continue throughout your day. These items are all smaller, but there might be other things like glasses or medicine that you need too! I wear contacts daily, but always bring my glasses with me in case something happens to my contacts or I have to take them out. With that, I also put an extra pair of contacts in my tote bag, because without them I wouldn’t be able to see well and I need them for school and softball. You never know what you might need, so it’s essential to have those small items in your bag. I keep them in my tote bag!

What to put in a tote bag varies, but there’s definitely a need for a college athlete to carry everyday items in! You don’t have to be an athlete too, you could just be very active and again need a bag! For an athlete it could be practice clothes, but for anyone it could also be a water bottle, headphones, notebooks, or simply a pack of gum. Use a tote bag while it’s trendy and in style right now too!
Just as the back of the bag says, it is designed “For Athletes Who Carry More.” Both in sport and outside of sport.
